Trick-or-Treat 2010

This man thought it was funny how they just walked right in, so he jokingly said, "Come on in, help yourself to a toy!"

Of course they did.

They had to put their buckets down to navigate some of the bigger steps.

Max chose Smarties and Vanh chips

Halfway through they switched treats

Stylin' Saturday #9

Boots mommy

Wace-car shirt, jeans Mommy

Fresh haircuts!

After nap they chose their costumes for a Halloween party.

Here is Piglet with ladybug and race car shoes.

You can get him to chose a costume on a limited timeline with a LOT of convincing, but you can't make him pose...

We did a little better at the party. Thanks again C & H!

PS Did you notice they switched costumes (since the sneak peek)? They were allowed to pick these out for themselves at the store a few weeks ago, and now they are each wearing the one their brother selected.

Two years of growing

Two years - and one day - after the referral photo was taken.

Exactly two years - and one day - ago, you were proclaimed ready for adoption, and somebody pointed a camera at you, and took this photo for us, your Mommy and Daddy, so we could finally see what you look like.

Exactly one year ago, when we had been together for eight months, we gave you that photo to hold and took this photo.

Stylin' Saturday #8

It's exactly 2 years today since their referral photos were taken - which means that here they are exactly 2 years older than in the header photo. And on the same sides too.

The winter accessories came out today. Blue hat knit by MeMe, scarf by Auntie Steffie, red hat sent from Oma in Holland.
Wrapped in love.
It was interesting how Vanh decided he needed hat, scarf, and mittens, while Max was equally certain he only needed a hat.

Stuff you need to see

A sneak peek at Halloween:

Here we are "reading" the book "Go Dog Go". Listen as Vanh changes his voice for "goodbye" to indicate a lady dog is speaking...

Vanh then goes on to make a mistake - the first dog mentioned, the red dog, is actually sitting in a blue tree - Vanh calls it yellow. You can see him realize his mistake as they continue.

I've been waiting until the boys were old enough to "interview":

Vanh's favourite animal is a duck (quack quack), or so Daddy translated. And if you're wondering why the couch cushions are on the floor... Was anyone wondering? Didn't think so.

Stylin' Saturday #7

I wasn't planning to take pictures on the second floor, so didn't bring the camera when we went up there together so the boys could select their own clothes. Of course I had to run for it when the boys pulled their parasols and Vietnamese hats down from their decorative shelf...
Vanh's choice of pants is particularly intriguing. Not sure why the pajama bottoms were in the pants drawer, or why he was compelled to reject over a dozen pairs of "normal" pants before selecting them. But it should be noted that the orange and beige in the plaid are the exact same shades as the orange and beige stripes in his sweater.

Look what Cadi gave us!

Counting Part 2

It appears that Vanh can now count past ten.
Mommy, on the other hand, needs to work on not getting distracted...

Stylin' Saturday #6

For the sake of historical accuracy, I must confess it was I who chose the bones, completely forgetting it was boys'-choice-Saturday in my eagerness to have them don outfits which some might call pajamas but are clearly too cool to be wasted at night and thus must be worn on weekends. I had nothing to do with the rest of it, and in fact actively encouraged a variety of coats, hats, and footwear, to no effect - they knew exactly what went with skeleton (maybe) pajamas, and wanted the same as each other - Pooh hat was considered but quickly abandoned when Max couldn't find an equivalent. The one difference today being the specific placement of the sunglasses - Vanh wanted them on his head "yike Mommy" while Max calmly returned his to the preferred position every time I put them back on "properly". I think he may have started a new trend here. Watch for it.
